The city of Lockport has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s July 4th fireworks slated for Outwater Park. Surrounding communities have also chosen to cancel their celebrations, and we join them in making the health and safety of our residents, first responders, workers and visitors our top priority.
We continue to follow state guidelines to slow the spread of the virus by limiting events to no more than ten participants, and unfortunately, this event cannot be an exception. This is Outwater Park’s 100th anniversary, but events that were planned to celebrate that history are scheduled to take place in 2021. Additionally, Lockport’s community pool in Outwater Park will be closed for the season. Our parks will remain open for residents to enjoy the fresh air, but our public facilities remain closed for the foreseeable future.
New outdoor, low-risk recreational activities, such as tennis and disc golf, will be allowed according to state guidelines. We ask patrons of the parks to please refrain from using the playground equipment and public seating areas.
We appreciate how our community has risen to the challenge, and thank residents for following hand-washing protocol, wearing masks and practicing social distancing guidelines. We will work through this time together and remain Lockport strong.
