With extreme cold weather temperatures forecasted, the City of Lockport has issued a Code Blue effective starting tomorrow night, Wednesday, Jan. 27 through Saturday, Jan. 30.
Overnight from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. during the Code Blue, the Code Blue Warming Shelter will be open to assist city residents in need. Any individual or homeless person without heat may spend the evening at the Salvation Army facility, located at 50 Cottage St. in Lockport.
Cots, blankets and light refreshments will be offered to guests to provide comfort and safety during the expected inclement conditions. Doors to the shelter are locked at 10 p.m. each night, although police may escort individuals to the shelter until midnight.
