Due to the anticipated large influx of people coming to our community for the Solar Eclipse event, City Hall will be closed on April 8th. To ensure public safety personnel can maintain a normal call response, certain areas will be blocked off to traffic. All local hotel rooms are booked, and residents should anticipate traffic delays from April 5th through April 8th. It is advisable to gas up vehicles and grocery shop before the event weekend due to the uncertain number of visitors.
The following roads and areas will be blocked off to traffic to assist our first responders and guide everyone to the main State routes on routes 31 and 78:
- – Niagara St from Transit to Church St
- – Church St from Ontario to Main St
- – Main St from Transit to Cottage St
Traffic heading south on Clinton St, Rt 78, will be detoured to Grand St to direct travelers on Rt 78.
The City Hall front parking lot and the area marked off by the DOT for bridge repair on Main St will be fenced off due to weight and safety concerns.
State Rd from Transit to Summit St will also be blocked off to provide ambulances with a direct route to Lockport Memorial Hospital’s emergency vehicle entrance off the Route 93 bypass.
We kindly request that everyone follow all temporary and regular traffic controls to ensure we can deliver critical services as needed.
Sincerely yours,
John Lombardi III
Mayor
