The Municipal Building, 1 Locks Plaza, is the official cooling station for the City of Lockport. Stop by the Lockport Police Department walk up window at the Niagara Street entrance and they will direct you to the most appropriate spot to sit out the heat. Lockport Fire Department, with its EMT/Paramedic personnel, is available to those feeling the effects of the heat.
Our community pool is open from 1:30-6pm Mon-Fri, 6-8pm Tues/Thurs, and 12-6pm on Sat/Sun.
Our public library is also available regular hours on weekdays: Mon 9am – 8pm, Tue 9am – 5pm, Wed 9am – 8pm, Thu 9am – 5pm, Fri 9am – 5pm
Cornerstone Arena is also available for a place to go cool down. You can watch the action on the ice Mon-Fri from 9am-9pm. Hop on the air-conditioned Niagara Shuttle and they will take you directly to the arena (Monday and Friday only) from 9am-5pm from any of their stops throughout the city. The Niagara Shuttle is free.
Bagged Lunches for the public in need are provided at the Sister Mary Loretto Community Soup Kitchen – Salvation Army, 50 Cottage Street, Lockport, Mon-Fri, 11am-1pm. Lunches are dispersed in the parking lot because of COVID restrictions. empire.salvationarmy.org/EmpireNY/lockport
