City of Lockport Municipal Building to Serve as Cooling Station

With the extreme heat expected over the next several days, the City of Lockport Municipal Building will be opened on a limited basis to serve as a cooling station for anyone in need of relief from the high temperatures.

During this period, those seeking to enter the municipal building must first report to the Lockport Police Department. Guests can stop at the police window on Niagara Street for an initial health screening, and will be admitted to the municipal building by police personnel. Police and fire department personnel will also be available to assist individuals showing symptoms of heat stroke or other heat-related illnesses.

Visitors will be able to use room M-24 or the foyer, and all people will be expected to wear masks and follow social distancing protocols. If a person does not have a mask, one will be provided.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, the Lockport Public Library and Salvation Army are not available as cooling stations.

For more information on the cooling station, call the Lockport Police Department non-emergency number at 716.433.7700.

Please Note: Municipal Offices will be closed on Thursday November 28th and Friday November 29th
