With extreme cold temperatures in the forecast once more for Wednesday, Jan. 16 as well as the upcoming weekend – Saturday, Jan. 19 to Tuesday, Jan. 22 – the City of Lockport Code Blue Warming Shelter will again be open for city residents in need.
The warming shelter will be open each day from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., and any homeless person or individual without heat may spend the evening at the Salvation Army facility, located at 50 Cottage St. in Lockport.
Light refreshments and cots and blankets are available at the shelter to ensure all individuals are comfortable and safe. Doors to the shelter are locked each evening at 10 p.m., with police escort available for individuals until midnight.
