Lockport to Celebrate Arbor Day 2026

Lockport, NY – City officials have announced that Arbor Day will once again be celebrated in Lockport on April 24, continuing the community’s strong commitment as a Tree City USA.

“Trees beautify our community, improve quality of life, and increase property values,” said Mayor John Lombardi, III. “I’m proud that the City of Lockport, along with our community partners, continues to recognize and celebrate the importance of Arbor Day each year.”

The City of Lockport Tree Committee remains dedicated to expanding awareness and education around proper tree planting and care. Through ongoing initiatives, the committee continues to work with residents and city departments to enhance the urban tree canopy and promote long-term sustainability.

Residents who have previously had a tree removed are encouraged to inquire about replacement opportunities by contacting the Mayor’s secretary Cheryl at cwestmoreland@lockportny.gov.

The Tree Committee also encourages local businesses, organizations, and individuals to participate in Arbor Day by planting trees throughout the community.

The schedule for Arbor Day activities is as follows:

  • 10:00 AM – Montessori Program at the Kenan Center
  • 12:15 PM – Lockport High School
  • 1:30 PM – Outwater Park with school program (Mayor in attendance)
  • 2:30 PM – General Motors tree planting

These events highlight the community’s shared commitment to environmental stewardship and the continued growth of Lockport’s urban forest for future generations.
