This summer, Lockport City Hall at One Locks Plaza will act as an official cooling station for local residents. This will be in effect whenever temperature and humidity combine to create a heat index of 95 degrees for two hours or longer.
Residents should report to the communications window at the Lockport Police Department, where officers will allow people to cool off in the air conditioning. The communications window is located on the Niagara Street side of City Hall. Lockport Fire Department personnel will be available to assist those feeling the effects of the heat.
The City Hall cooling station will be available 24-hours a day.
Cornerstone Arena and Lockport Public Library are also available this summer, during their normal operating hours, as a place for people to seek relief from the heat.
