Lockport COVID-19 Update
As of December 20, 2020, Niagara County has some areas that have been given the yellow zone designation, including Lockport. Yellow is the least restrictive of the state’s three, color-coded classifications and imposes a 50% capacity in houses of worship, and limitations of up to a four-person maximum on indoor and outdoor dining at restaurants. In addition, schools within yellow zone areas can remain open but must provide testing for 20% of in-person students and faculty members each week. Non-residential gatherings — either indoors or outdoors — can have no more than 25 people. Indoor and outdoor residential gatherings are capped at 10 or fewer people. Regardless of the color designation, COVID guidelines are still in place. We encourage everyone to wear masks, socially distance, and wash hands frequently.
Vaccines are becoming available in our area. If you are over 65 years of age, please contact your local Tops and Rite Aid for availability and appointments. For all others in phase 1A and 1B, please find more information on vaccines at the Niagara County Department of Health website or the NYS Department of Health website regarding Coronavirus and Vaccines. City hall has limited access at this time. People may call the department related to their inquiry to discuss their needs. The most productive and efficient option to address issues will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Cases that require an in-person meeting will be scheduled by appointment only, and guests will need to have a health screening and enter the municipal building via the police department entrance. All calls will be answered by staff from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
The night depository remains available from outside the building (by the Main Street parking lot access) to drop off correspondence, payments, applications, or other business with the offices of the city clerk and city treasurer.
