TREE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Formed in 2018 as part of Lockport’s Tree City USA designation
Committee Agenda: 3/16
The City of Lockport Tree Advisory Committee is comprised of community volunteers who are committed to maintaining a healthy and sustainable urban forestry program in the City of Lockport. The committee works to ensure trees will benefit our city for centuries to come. Initiatives of the committee to date include:
• Collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension and Lockport City School district to facilitate four plantings in April 2018
• Partnership with Lockport Main Street to facilitate planting of 22 new trees in the downtown corridor
Additional projects on the horizon include:
• Facilitating ongoing education on proper tree care and maintenance for city staff and residents
• Creating an opportunity for memorial plantings throughout the city
• Annual spring and fall planting events
• Update of city tree ordinance in support of re-tree initiatives
